Nigerian court dismisses MultiChoice lawsuit, upholds FCCPC's role in price regulation.
A Nigerian Federal High Court dismissed a lawsuit by MultiChoice Nigeria, which challenged the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission’s (FCCPC) intervention in its recent subscription price hike for DStv and GoTV.
The court ruled that the FCCPC cannot fix or suspend prices unless authorized by the President.
It also noted that Nigeria operates a free market system, allowing MultiChoice to set prices.
The court found MultiChoice's lawsuit to be an abuse of court process, as a similar case was already pending.
