Mattel raises toy prices, shifts some production out of China due to high tariffs.
Mattel, the maker of Barbie and Hot Wheels, plans to raise prices on some U.S. toys due to high tariffs on Chinese imports, which have increased costs by $270 million this year. The company is also moving production of 500 products out of China to reduce dependency. Despite these changes, Mattel expects about 40-50% of its toys to still cost $20 or less. The CEO, Ynon Kreiz, cited difficulties in predicting future sales due to ongoing trade uncertainties.
