Japanese regulators warn 15 Tokyo hotels of potential price-fixing over shared pricing data.
The Japan Fair Trade Commission has warned 15 luxury Tokyo hotel operators, including Imperial Hotel and Hotel New Otani Tokyo, for potentially violating antimonopoly laws by sharing room pricing and occupancy data, which could be seen as price-fixing.
This comes as room rates have surged sharply, rising about 1.8 times higher than during the pandemic.
The hotels suspended their information-sharing meetings in fall 2024.
