US food delivery company DoorDash has agreed to acquire its UK rival Deliveroo for £2.9 billion in cash. The deal, valued at 180p per share, aims to create a global leader with operations in 40 countries and annual order volume of about £67.7 billion. The acquisition is expected to close by the end of 2025, subject to regulatory and shareholder approval. This merger is part of DoorDash’s strategy to expand its global presence and enhance its position in local commerce.
