India plans to boost border security with 16 new BSF battalions amid regional unrest.
The Indian government plans to approve 16 new battalions for the Border Security Force (BSF), adding about 17,000 personnel to strengthen security at the India-Pakistan and Bangladesh borders.
This follows increased security demands due to political changes in Bangladesh and unrest at the Pakistan border.
Two new field command bases will also be established in Jammu and Mizoram.
