Denmark begins construction on CO2 transit terminal, key to storing climate gases offshore.
The construction of a CO2 transit terminal at Port Esbjerg in Denmark has begun, a key step in the Greensand carbon capture and storage project. Set to finish by autumn, the terminal will store up to 6,000 tonnes of liquefied CO2, which will be transported to the Danish North Sea for permanent storage by INEOS Energy. Meanwhile, Europe's first CO2 carrier ship is under construction in the Netherlands, set to transport captured CO2 to offshore storage, furthering efforts to meet climate goals.
