Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) have surpassed Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) in market ownership of Indian equities for the first time, with DIIs holding 17.62% and FIIs 17.22% as of March 2025. This shift was fueled by DIIs' net investment of Rs 1.89 lakh crore in the March quarter, while FIIs withdrew Rs 1.16 lakh crore, influenced by rising US yields and a stronger dollar. Mutual funds were the key drivers for DIIs, with a record investment of Rs 1.16 lakh crore.
