Smith Packing recalls 18,792 pounds of sausages and meats due to high sodium nitrite levels.
Smith Packing, LLC, has recalled about 18,792 pounds of ready-to-eat sausages and sliced meats due to excessive sodium nitrite levels. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service initiated the recall after receiving complaints about off-taste and off-color products. The items, produced between February 19 and April 24, 2025, bear establishment numbers "EST. 4578" or "P-4578." No adverse reactions have been reported, but consumers are urged not to consume the products.
