Bronx Zoo uses vulture puppet to hand-feed king vulture chick, preventing human imprinting.

The Bronx Zoo is using a hand puppet shaped like a vulture to feed a newly hatched king vulture chick to prevent it from imprinting on humans. King vultures can neglect their chicks, making hand-feeding necessary. The puppet technique, used for over four decades, has also helped raise endangered species like Andean condors and California condors. This is the first king vulture chick at the Bronx Zoo since the 1990s.
