Singapore orders Meta to block foreign election-related posts to prevent influence on the May 3 vote.
Singapore has instructed Meta, Facebook’s parent company, to block access for Singaporeans to posts made by foreigners, alleging attempts to influence the upcoming election on racial and religious grounds.
The Infocomm Media Development Authority issued the order under new rules that prohibit foreigners from publishing election-related content that could impact political parties or candidates.
The election, expected to be dominated by the ruling People's Action Party, is set for May 3.
