Quebec defends "Go Habs Go!" as cultural icon, overriding language office's French mandate.

The Quebec government has defended the phrase "Go Habs Go!" as an integral part of its identity, despite the Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF) previously instructing the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) to replace it with "Allez! Canadiens Allez!" due to the English word "go." Minister Jean-François Roberge stated that the expression is a significant part of Quebec's history and culture. The STM may now revert to using "Go Habs Go!" after receiving "official confirmation" that they won't face penalties.
