Parts of Georgia and Tennessee are bracing for the emergence of Brood XIV cicadas, expected late April through May. These cicadas, which last appeared in 2008, will be less noisy than the 2024 wave. They typically emerge for four to six weeks, favoring hardwood trees but posing no danger to humans or pets. While cicadas can cause minor tree damage, they are harmless and will not appear again until 2037.
