Former New York Rep. George Santos was sentenced to over seven years in prison for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. Santos, who served briefly in Congress before being expelled, admitted to deceiving donors and stealing the identities of nearly a dozen people to fund his campaign. He agreed to pay about $580,000 in penalties. Despite pleading for a two-year sentence, U.S. District Judge Joanna Seybert imposed the 87-month term, noting a lack of genuine remorse.
