Manitoba Chiefs urge halt to Hudson's Bay's auction of culturally significant Indigenous artifacts.

The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs has asked Hudson's Bay to halt the auction of 1,700 pieces of art and over 2,700 artifacts, some of which may be linked to First Nations people. Grand Chief Kyra Wilson has expressed concern that selling these items without consulting First Nations would be "morally irresponsible." She has requested a public list of items and a First Nations-led review process. Hudson's Bay plans to auction the items as part of its creditor protection process, stating it is the most transparent way to monetize the collection.
