India introduces safety ratings for trucks, aiming to reduce high road accident rates.

India plans to introduce a safety rating system for trucks and heavy vehicles based on its crash testing program, Bharat NCAP, to boost vehicle safety and quality. This follows the 2023 launch of Bharat NCAP for small vehicles. The country aims to enhance road safety, with 4.8 lakh crashes annually and 1.8 lakh deaths. Other initiatives include setting working hours for truck drivers and reducing logistics costs to 9% within two years.
