Philippines launches rice subsidy program in Visayas, aiming to make it nationwide by 2026.

The Philippine government has launched a pilot program in the Visayas region to sell rice at ₱20 per kilogram, aiming to expand nationwide after logistical issues are resolved. Each family can buy up to 10 kilograms weekly. The program, initially set to end in February 2026, will now be made sustainable. The National Food Authority (NFA) assures adequate funding for local rice procurement, with ample buffer stocks to support the initiative.
