India launches "Surakshit Safar," a nationwide road safety education program for students aged 6 to 18.
The Indian government, along with the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), has launched a nationwide road safety education program for students from Class 1 to 12.
Named "Surakshit Safar," the initiative includes audio-visual modules designed for different school levels and aims to reduce the country's high rate of road accidents.
The program will be integrated into the curriculum as an elective subject in the 2025-26 academic year, with the goal of creating a generation more aware of traffic rules and road safety practices.
