Congo suspends ex-President Kabila's party, seizes assets over alleged support for rebels.
The Democratic Republic of Congo has suspended former President Joseph Kabila's political party and ordered the seizure of his assets, accusing him of supporting Rwandan-backed rebels in the eastern region.
The government alleges Kabila is complicit in the M23 rebels' activities, which have led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands and thousands of deaths.
Kabila, who ruled from 2001-2019, has expressed a desire to return to help resolve the conflict.
However, his party secretary called the suspension unconstitutional.
