Enfield Council takes legal action after a 400-year-old oak tree is felled in Whitewebbs Park.

A 400-year-old oak tree in Whitewebbs Park, deemed a "fine specimen" by Tottenham Hotspur contractors, was felled by restaurant group Mitchells & Butlers Retail on April 3. Despite Tottenham's plans for a nearby women's football academy being approved, MBR claims the tree was dying and a risk to public safety. However, Tottenham's contractors recommended conservation, and Enfield Council, which owns the land, is taking legal action, stating the tree showed signs of life.
