Walker County, Georgia launched a free spay/neuter voucher program on April 15, 2025, to address the overpopulation of unwanted pets. The program offers 40 vouchers monthly, covering spaying or neutering, microchipping, and rabies vaccinations. Each voucher is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to help reduce the high number of pets surrendered to the local shelter. The initiative is funded by donations and available at participating vet clinics.
