Ireland delays free Hormone Replacement Therapy for women until June 1, introducing a €5 fee.
Hormone Replacement Treatment (HRT) for women in Ireland, initially promised to be free starting January 1, will now be free from June 1, with a €5 dispensing fee.
The delay was due to disagreements between the government and the Irish Pharmacy Union over dispensing fees.
The Health Minister, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, assured that a once-off €1,000 payment to pharmacies will help cap the fee at €5.
Despite concerns from pharmacies about financial constraints, the government is pushing for nationwide implementation.
