Two shooting deaths in Birmingham: Amaiyah Sumlin died; Ivry Jelks and Jamil Carillo-Jemison arrested.

In Birmingham, Alabama, 23-year-old Amaiyah Sumlin died on April 12 from a gunshot wound sustained in a fight on April 6. The suspect, 22-year-old Ivry Jelks, turned herself in and is now in Shelby County Jail. Police are seeking to upgrade her charges. Separately, Jamil Carillo-Jemison, also 23, was arrested and charged with capital murder for the August 2024 shooting deaths of Kayla Warren and Na'Bryan Adams. Carillo-Jemison is held in Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
