West Virginia House passes "Lauren's Law," stiffening penalties for drug trafficking, including fentanyl.
Senate Bill 196, or "Lauren's Law," passed by the West Virginia House of Delegates, aims to increase penalties for drug trafficking, including harsher sentences for large-scale distribution of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl.
The bill, named after Lauren Renee Cole who died from fentanyl poisoning, raises the minimum sentence for drug delivery resulting in death from three to 10 years and for failing to seek medical help in an overdose from one to two years.
It now awaits Senate approval.
