US Catholic organizations urge Congress to restore billions in international aid, citing program cuts affecting millions.
The US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) are urging Congress to reinstate billions in international humanitarian aid, including over $10 billion for global health and nearly $4.8 billion for disaster assistance.
CRS, which receives the most federal funding for international aid among NGOs, had to cut 74 programs serving 20 million people due to Trump's funding freeze.
The groups are also phasing out some programs supporting migrants and refugees due to funding cuts.
