UK's NCA operation targets cash-intensive businesses, leading to 35 arrests and protecting 97 potential slavery victims.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) conducted a three-week operation called Machinize, targeting 265 cash-intensive businesses, including barbershops, vape shops, and nail salons, to combat money laundering and modern slavery.
The operation led to 35 arrests, the closure of ten shops, and the placement of 97 individuals under police protection, suspected to be victims of modern slavery.
Authorities also seized over £40,000 in cash and froze bank accounts totaling more than £1 million.
The NCA estimates that £12 billion of criminal cash is generated annually in the UK through such businesses.
