Australian insurer Hollard settles for over $1.5M, facing claims it mishandled storm damage by a couple's home.
Australian insurer Hollard Insurance faces legal action from a couple whose Scotsburn home became uninhabitable due to mold after the insurer allegedly delayed their storm-damage claim for nearly three and a half years.
ASIC, the corporate regulator, has accused Hollard of initially accepting the claim but later rejecting it based on a "non-expert" opinion, breaching its duty to act in good faith.
Hollard agreed to pay over $1.5 million to cover the loss of the home and temporary accommodation.
