The US Air Force has added a "Frankenjet" to its fleet, a stealth F-35 fighter rebuilt from parts of two damaged aircraft.
The Frankenjet, assembled from the nose of one F-35 damaged in 2014 and the rear of another damaged in 2020, cost $11.7 million to repair, saving $63 million compared to a new aircraft.
The fighter is now fully operational and assigned to the 338th Fighter Wing, joining the Air Force's 383 F-35As.
