Turkey releases 127, mostly students, arrested during protests over the mayor's imprisonment.
Turkey has released 127 people, mostly university students, arrested during mass anti-government protests that followed the imprisonment of Istanbul's opposition mayor, Ekrem Imamoglu.
Imamoglu's arrest on corruption and terrorism charges, seen as politically motivated, sparked nationwide protests, leading to more than 2,000 detentions and over 300 being jailed awaiting trial.
The releases came after a campaign by parents for their children's freedom.
The defendants' cases will be heard in June and September.
