More than half of scam victims feel angry, and 26% feel embarrassed, with romance scams causing the most shame. Wise and We Fight Fraud launched 'Scam Safe Space' to encourage open discussion about scams. The study shows that 48% of victims lost money within the last year, averaging £481, but only 22% reported it to authorities. Victims often believe no help would be provided or blame themselves. Most victims (58%) want harsher penalties for scammers.
