Mumbai's water supply faces disruption as tanker operators strike over new BMC regulations.
The Mumbai Water Tanker Association (MWTA) has halted services over new regulations imposed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on private well owners, who supply about 350 million liters of water daily to the city.
The BMC's new requirements include proof of land ownership, installation of digital flow meters, adherence to BIS standards, and a No Objection Certificate from the Central Ground Water Authority.
The MWTA argues these rules are impractical and has sought government relaxation.
This strike could affect Mumbai’s water supply, especially in high-demand areas.
