Former Russian minister Dmitrii Ovsiannikov has been found guilty of breaching UK sanctions, marking the first case of its kind. Ovsiannikov, appointed as a governor in Crimea by Vladimir Putin, was convicted of opening a Halifax Bank of Scotland account and receiving tens of thousands of pounds from his wife. His brother Alexei was also convicted for assisting with payments. The case involves sanctions under the Russian Regulations 2019.
