The UK's Department for Work and Pensions distributed over £35 million in Cold Weather Payments to more than 1.4 million households during the 2024-25 winter, aiding those struggling with heating costs. Payments of £25 are made automatically to eligible households receiving certain benefits when temperatures are 0°C or below for seven consecutive days. Over 385,000 recipients also received Pension Credit.
