Romania's trade deficit surged by 35.1% in January-February 2025 compared to the same period last year, reaching EUR 5.62 billion. Exports fell 0.7% in February, while imports rose 10.3%, though both showed growth over the first two months compared to 2024. Interim President Ilie Bolojan warned of potential negative impacts from US tariffs on key industries like aluminum and pharmaceuticals, urging continued EU-US negotiations to avoid economic risks.
