Canadian leaders meet to address U.S. tariffs on softwood lumber, which will nearly double.
British Columbia Premier David Eby and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney met in Victoria to discuss the impact of increased U.S. tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber, which will rise to 34.45%, more than double the current rate.
Carney pledged to fight these "wholly unjustified" tariffs, while Eby emphasized the need for a "Team Canada" approach to support the industry.
They also discussed affordable housing, mass timber construction, and improving transportation corridors.
