Pakistani farmers create "ice stupas" to combat water scarcity caused by climate change.
Farmers in northern Pakistan are creating artificial glaciers, called "ice stupas," to boost water supplies affected by climate change.
Inspired by an Indian engineer, Sonam Wangchuk, the technique involves spraying water into the air during winter to form ice towers that act as a storage system, melting gradually in spring.
Since 2018, over 20 villages have adopted this method, providing water to more than 16,000 residents and extending the growing season for crops.
