U.S. Army Corps of Engineers begins construction on a new $250 million dredge in Florida.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, along with Eastern Shipbuilding Group, started building a new Medium Class Hopper Dredge in Panama City, Florida, on April 4, 2025. This state-of-the-art vessel, set to be operational by 2027, will replace the aging Dredge McFARLAND and support crucial navigation and dredging operations for national security, commerce, and recreation. The $250 million project is being funded by the Corps and will be completed at Eastern Shipbuilding Group's facilities.
