Police identify 1996 murder victim Betty Benton using DNA techniques; seek help to identify other victims.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has identified a 1996 murder victim, Betty Benton, using forensic genetic genealogy. Her remains were found near Bank of America Stadium in 1996 but went unidentified until now. Benton was last heard from in 1991, and her case is still under investigation. Police are seeking public assistance and are working to identify at least nine other unidentified victims.
