Judge moves detained Tufts student's case back to Vermont, rejecting Trump-era relocation.

Federal Judge Denise Casper has transferred the legal case of Rumeysa Öztürk, a detained Tufts University doctoral student from Turkey, to Vermont. Öztürk's lawyers argue her detention violates her constitutional rights, including free speech and due process. Initially held in Vermont, she was moved to Louisiana, against which the Trump administration had requested the case be relocated. Judge Casper denied this request, moving the proceedings back to Vermont.
