Catholic Church investigates sales of purported relics of soon-to-be saint Carlo Acutis online.
The Catholic Church is investigating online sales of purported relics of Carlo Acutis, a 15-year-old saint-to-be who died of leukemia in 2006. An anonymous seller auctioned off locks of his hair, drawing $2,200 before being taken down. Bishop Domenico Sorrentino has asked authorities to confiscate any fraudulent items, stating that such sales are a "great offense to religious belief." Acutis, known for his devotion to the Eucharist, will be canonized on April 27 at St. Peter's Basilica.
