Supreme Court of India agrees to publish judges' asset declarations online to boost transparency.
The Supreme Court of India has agreed to make the asset declarations of its judges public, posting them on the court's website. This decision, made during a full court meeting, is a response to recent controversies, including the discovery of cash at Justice Yashwant Varma's residence. While the disclosure remains voluntary, 30 out of 33 judges, including Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, have already submitted their declarations. This move aims to increase transparency and public trust in the judiciary.
