Australian car sales saw a 1.1% increase in March, with over 108,000 new vehicles sold, marking the first growth in eight months. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles led the surge, with sales increasing by 16,800 and 380% respectively, while diesel and petrol vehicle sales declined by 8.3% and 1.2%. Electric vehicles accounted for 7.5% of sales, up from 5.9% in February, but sales were still lower than in 2024. Toyota topped vehicle brands, but the Ford Ranger ute was the best-selling vehicle.
