Chicago teachers tentatively approve new contract including lower class sizes, more funding, and sanctuary protections.
The Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) has tentatively approved a new contract with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) that includes lower class sizes, more planning time for teachers, and increased funding for sports and librarians.
The deal also provides sanctuary protections for immigrant students, ensures abortion coverage for school workers, and includes annual cost-of-living raises.
The contract must still be ratified by the union's House of Delegates and all 30,000 members.
