UK youth support democracy but see it as "in trouble," survey shows, amid personal optimism.
A recent survey by the University of Glasgow's John Smith Centre reveals that the majority of young adults in the UK, aged 16 to 29, are concerned about the state of the nation's democracy.
While they support democracy over dictatorship (57% vs. 27%), 63% believe democracy is "in trouble," and nearly three-quarters (72%) find it "too divided."
Despite these concerns, 63% are optimistic about their personal future, and 72% describe themselves as "rather or very happy."
Financial worries and job security are major sources of anxiety.
The poll also shows young adults want more open and honest politics and prioritise affordable housing and NHS investment.
