Danish company FirstFarms reports possible Foot and Mouth Disease in Slovakian livestock; fifth outbreak this year.

FirstFarms, a Danish company, has reported possible symptoms of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in one of its 3,487 animals at a farm in Slovakia. Tests are being conducted by the state veterinarian, and the company awaits results. FMD, highly contagious among cloven-hoofed animals, cannot be transmitted to humans but can be spread by them. The outbreak is the fifth in Slovakia this year, prompting concern in the farming sector. FirstFarms is cooperating with authorities to contain the disease and prevent further spread.
