Camilla Hempleman-Adams becomes first woman to solo traverse Canada's Baffin Island in extreme conditions.
British explorer Camilla Hempleman-Adams has become the first woman to solo traverse Canada's Baffin Island, finishing the two-week expedition a day early. She endured extreme conditions, including -40°C temperatures and 47mph winds, traveling from Qikiqtarjuaq to Pangnirtung through Auyuittuq National Park. Hempleman-Adams, who previously became the youngest British female to ski to the North Pole at 15, hopes her journey will inspire women and highlight climate change's impact on the region and Inuit communities.
