A 79-year-old former RAF engineer, Mick Priddle, helped identify and convict Saadi for the murder of Amie Gray and attempted murder of Leanne Miles on a Bournemouth beach.
Priddle, who was photographing the Blood Moon, heard screams but didn't realize their significance until he recognized Saadi from CCTV images later.
Saadi was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison.
The motive for the attack remains unknown.
