Ripple Labs settles with SEC, pays $50M fine; SEC returns $75M of original $125M penalty.

Ripple Labs has reached a tentative settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), agreeing to pay a reduced fine of $50 million. The SEC will return $75 million of the original $125 million fine imposed on Ripple for alleged securities law violations. Ripple will also drop its cross-appeal, potentially ending their legal dispute.
