Irish complaints to financial ombudsmen rise slightly, with insurance seeing sharp increase.

Complaints to Ireland's Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO) hit 6,185 in 2024, up from 6,182 in 2023, with a 26% rise in insurance complaints. Despite this, banking complaints decreased by 12%. The FSPO resolved 5,907 cases, securing over €4.2 million in mediated settlements. Poor customer service and financial scams were major issues, with banking and insurance sectors seeing the most complaints.
