Valissa Thornell, 20, was arrested in Decatur, Illinois, after attempting to drown her seven-month-old baby. Thornell called police herself after the failed attempt and the baby was found with water in his mouth. Charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery, Thornell is held without bail due to concerns over her mental health and the safety of the child. A hearing is set for April 2.
