The lawsuit disputes the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's (LADWP) claim that power lines near the fire's origin were disconnected for five years, stating they were energized during the fire. The residents seek compensation for damages, including property losses. The lawsuit also accuses LADWP of draining crucial reservoirs prior to the fire. At least 29 people died, and over 16,000 structures were damaged or destroyed in the wildfire.
